Although this article was created for beginners, please note that the information i share is of equal importance to those advanced in the ways of emergency preparedness.

If you are doubting the importance of emergency preparedness - dont. It is critical you prepare, for your own sake and that of your families. Here´s why.

In any emergency, whether a storm, flood, fire or man made, many countries such as China, do not have the infrastructure or resources to handle such a large scale disaster.

That's why you should prepare yourself for an emergency. Although help is available, the better you prepare yourself, the less you will need to depend on them for aid.

Because when emergencies happen, people are treated on a ´needs basis´, with fatal injuries being the highest priority.

Now that you understand the importance of taking matters into your own hands, let's take a look at the fundamentals to prepare for an emergency.

There are various ways to ensure your self reliance, though in the beginning it always comes down to the essentials, food, water and shelter. If you have a sufficient amount for 3 days than you are in good hands.

If you must know, the purpose for why we prepare for 3 days is because that is generally the amount of time it can take for the emergency services to arrive.

Virtually all people who are already prepared for an emergency situation will keep their emergency supplies (food, water, first aid kit) in what is commonly known as a ´survival kit´ or ´emergency pack´.

Maintaining your emergency disaster equipment in a backpack gives you the ability to evacuate your home, office or vehicle without losing the supplies that can quite literally save your life.

Being mobile with a survival kit definitely has it´s advantages over other survival means such as maintaining a much larger supply of long life food at home for emergency situations. If you had to choose between an emergency pack and to stock supplies at home, i would say don't. You would be better off having both. The pack will assist you when you must evacuate your home or office. And the home supply will support you when you need to stay indoors during the disaster.

Now that you have the emergency supplies you can count on during an emergency, let's consider the other crucial element to preparing for an emergency - an evacuation plan.

If you don't have this plan, you risk putting yourself in danger when you try to evacuate wherever it is you need to evacuate from.

If your area is prone to frequent flooding, earthquakes or the like, you should definitely plan your escape route today.

One thing to keep in mind when preparing your disaster preparedness evacuation plan is to ensure you have various routes to take as the exit routes will commonly be overcome with many others hoping to evacuate, and also it is highly likely, particularly in an earthquake, that there are obstacles along the road that can forbid you from using it effectively.

As you can see this article is by no means exhaustive, however it should give you at least some awareness of the importance for disaster preparedness, and i hope it has also given you some insight into how you can begin getting prepared.

Don't wait another minute with putting this information into action. Many deaths and injuries can be avoided with these 2 simple yet highly effective strategies. Natural disasters are prevalent more than ever and we are all at risk. Minimise yours today with the information you have just learnt.

The last thing you want to do is have this knowledge and wish you had used it.
